Newsletter Oktober 2018
Dear Parents, Friends, Students and Teachers:
It is wonderful to see all our new and returning students this fall. We’re finally settling in to the term and have a few exciting events coming up with Laternenfest and our Christmas bake sale.
Just a reminder to please use the side door of The Shambhala School when entering and exiting.
Also new this year is that Term 1 continues until January 24 with Term 2 beginning January 31.
Laternenfest will be held Sunday, November 11th at the Church Hall of Christ Church, 61 Dundas Street in Dartmouth. 5 pm Everyone is invited! The event will begin at 5:00 pm with a potluck meal. Please bring “fingerfood” that doesn’t require plates & cutlery, such as sandwiches, vegetable or fruit platters, cheese & crackers, etc. As we have some children with food allergies, we ask that food be labeled with ingredients.
During the Potluck, Ruth Koeller from Goethe Books in Toronto will have a book table with German books for sale. Please be sure to have a look, you may find some Christmas present ideas. After the potluck ends around 6:00 pm we will go outside to light our lanterns and walk slowly through the church grounds singing “Laterne, Laterne” and “Ich geh mit meiner Laterne”. If you want you can learn the words and practice singing here:
For those families only wanting to join us on the walk we will start the walk at about 6:00 pm. Let’s hope for good weather again this year! Dress warmly! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
